Bob’s marathon walk before reaching 80

Please meet Bob, he is going to be 80 in May, before then he would like to do one BIG walk, the equivalent of a marathon (26 miles) in a day. Bob has been volunteering with WELCOME, St Georges for years and has been over to Egypt on many occasions to work with the children who live and work in a garbage village in Mottamodia, Cairo.

He completed this walk back on 27th September, starting his walk from where he lives (Cannock) and walking to Walsall then back again within the space of a day.

Bob started his walk at 7:30 am, he set off from his home and set off towards Walsall, being accompanied by Andrew for his first leg of the journey.

He reached the halfway stage at 11:30 am, where he had a break before turning around and completing his marathon walk by 5 pm.

In total, it took Bob around 8 hours to walk the 26 miles, which is an amazing time.

Not only has Bob been a fantastic servant to WELCOME St Georges, he is also an amazing person and we cannot thank him enough for everything he has done for the charity over the years.
